April is passionate about the ocean and it’s marine life. Her artwork often depicts this love. When not doing design work, you can often find April on dolphin and whale watching boats or traveling. She has held jobs with Bottomtime Adventures in the Bahamas, Dolphin Excursions in Hawaii, and Kewalo Marine Mammal Lab in Hawaii. In 2012, she participated in the Hopkins Center for the Arts HOP’s Hands on Piano art project. Her piano design was titled “Whale Song” based on the habits of the Humpback whales during mating season in Hawaii.
Traveling is April’s source for renewing her creativity. Some of her favorite lifetime experiences have been climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, visiting the pyramids of Egypt, swimming with the dolphins in the Red Sea and Bahamas, and visiting all parts of Scotland and England when visiting her parents who lived abroad.

April received her MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Studying animation at the time, she interned with Industrial Light & Magic (A Lucas Film Company) and briefly saw George Lucas as he walked through the halls.
An ocean lover her whole life—it’s not surprising that April choose UC Santa Barbara along the California coast for her undergraduate studies. Like many UCSB students, she rode her bicycle to campus where she enjoyed her days in the art studios. Thinking she wanted to be an art teacher someday, April minored in Education.
